PRIDE was established as a comprehensive functional restoration program
for patients with spinal disorders. Its primary goal was to provide these patients with
the finest health care possible. To achieve this goal, Dr. Mayer assembled outstanding
professionals in health care to work as an interdisciplinary team. The work of this group
has resulted in care for patients with chronic spinal disorder rehabilitation, which has
maintained a steady posture as the leader of the scientific and medical communities. PRIDE
received the 1985 Volvo award for clinical sciences from the International Society for
the Study of the Lumbar Spine, which demonstrates how quickly PRIDE became the standard
bearer for treatment of chronic spinal dysfunction. With its treatment philosophy and
clinical success firmly established, PRIDE began treating upper and lower extremity disorders
in the early 1990's. PRIDE received CARF accreditation in 1996, which further solidifies
PRIDE's status as a national leader in musculoskeletal rehabilitation and occupational
injuries.
PRIDE also serves as an educational environment for students, residents
and other postgraduates from the U.S. and international universities on the fundamentals
of evaluation and treatment of patients afflicted with chronic pain. Our facility also
fulfills its role as a member of a community of scholars, collecting and analyzing data
for clinical research with the goal of adding to the fund of medical knowledge on occupational
injuries and musculoskeletal rehabilitation (back, neck, knee, shoulder, carpal tunnel,
RSD, etc...).
This rehabilitation program promotes basic human rights, dignity, health
and safety of all patients served. We provide equal service for chronic pain patients
without regard to race, color, creed, religion, national origin, age, sex, or physical
handicap.
